Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) is an intelligent, witty 13 yr old boy with an extremely rare genetic defect that causes accelerated ageing.

Amol Arte (Abhishek Bachchan), is young, progressive and a full of ideals, politician. He is out to prove to the world that ‘politics’ is not a bad word. He is a man with a mission. Auro is Amol’s son.

Paa is a ‘rare’ story about a father-son, son-father relationship.

kanden kadhalai

‘Kandein Kadhalai’ is a remake of hit Bollywood film ‘Jab We Met’, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Director R. Kannan has made subtle changes in the screenplay to suit Tamil audiences and it is sure to pass the box-office test with flying colours.

 The film is undoubtedly a clean family entertainment. While Bharath plays Shahid’s role, Tamannaah plays Kareena’s part of the bubbly and talkative girl.

 The film starts off just like the original – the dejected hero, hurt by a failed romance and family problems, gets into a train. The leading lady, bubbling with youthful zest, is travelling by the same train to her hometown Theni.

 When the hero is grilled by the ticket examiner for travelling without a ticket, Tamannah steps in and saves him by paying off the penalty. And when Bharath alights, the girl follows him to console him and in the process misses the train. Their journey by road to Theni, followed by Tamannaah’s quest for her lover and how her positive energy inspires Bharath to rebuild his father’s business forms the rest of the story.

 Even though Bharath falls head-over-heels in love with Tamannaah, he helps her run away from home and escorts her to her lover’s place, but Tamannah is in for a shock as her lover refuses to accept her. Bharath then finds her, brings her back to her family and after much melodrama, the hero and heroine are united.

 Bharath is definitely a revelation. In the first-half, his emotions are muted as per the needs of his character but in the second-half, he is into his elements and has a ball.

 With each film of his, he is showing signs of maturity in his acting.

 Tamannaah truly breathes life into the film. She floors the audience with her lightning smile and amazing expressions. Not only her beauty gets accentuated to the apt choice of costumes and also her non-stop chattering leaves the audiences asking for more. Santhanam has a field day and his comic acts tickle the funny bones of viewers.

 Muthiah’s cinematography is definitely one of the films strengths – the picturesque locales of Ooty have never been shown more beautifully in any other film. The music by Vidyasagar is good and soothing to the ears.

 On the flip side, the second half drags a little but is saved by an interesting climax.

SACHIN THE MASTER

Relaxing in his hotel room in Guwahati not quite 24 hours after he single-handedly held the cricketing world in thrall, Sachin Tendulkar was excited and thoughtful by turn as he chatted about cricket and life.

But if his knock caught his detractors on the wrong foot, the man himself — all of 36 and an incredible 20 years into the international game — said he was not surprised at knocking off 175 runs in 141 balls and running the Australians ragged in the process.

“To be honest, I always knew I could do it,” Tendulkar told HT from Guwahati. And no, racking up 75 runs in singles, twos and threes did not tire him.

On the contrary, he thinks that has been his strength. “Many of the hundreds I scored, there was a lot of running involved,” he said. I still do my regular routine (at the nets)… You do a lot of running. I always focus more on that aspect of the game. I feel if I could run well between the wickets, most of the other things would be taken care of.”

And by his own reckoning, he has many more left in him.

Tendulkar has no plans to retire, not now, not anytime soon. He said the thought of giving up cricket had not even crossed his mind. “Not at this stage. I am enjoying my game and there is cricket left in me. At this stage I’m not thinking of it at all. At some stage one will have to, but I don’t need to think about that right now. I’m just saying that when the situation arises, it’ll then be appropriate to think about it. Right now, that’s not something I want to do.”
